Approximately 28,000sqm of laboratory, pilot plants and write-up areas by AMEC Projects with Philippe Samyn as shell architect.
Rob Bowen was project architect for the laboratories and pilot plants post avant-projet for AMEC Projects. He built up the architectural design team and developed the laboratory and pilot plant design from outline concept to detail. He subsequently led the overall design team, including responsibility for Philippe Samyn’s office’s output, and worked with the project manager to achieve a successful completion.
The project was completed in 1997. Whilst now 20 years old the facility still provides world leading research facilities placing GSK at the forefront of vaccines research.
